We are delighted that you are considering Newker Primary School as a prospective school for your son or daughter. We are passionate about providing the very best education and experiences for all of the children in our care and would love you to come along for a visit to see what we offer.
We do understand that selecting the right school for your child can be a daunting process and therefore any parents selecting a school for their child to start in Reception in September 2018 are invited to join us for a tour of the school and a chat. We have allocated the following dates and times for visits, however if these times or dates are not convenient, please call and we will arrange an alternative:
Monday 25th September at 5.15pm
Tuesday 3rd October at 9.45am
Friday 6th October at 10am and 2pm.
All applications for places do however have to be made through the Durham Local Authority website which can be reached by clicking here. The window for applications opens on 12th September 2017 and closes again on 15th January 2018. The Parents' Guide for 2018/19 applications is also available on the Local Authority website which provides further advice for parents to help them navigate the admission process.
Please note - a late application greatly reduces your chances of getting into your preferred school.
There are also a very small number of places available in certain year groups across school. Anyone wishing to transfer their child to Newker is very welcome to arrange a visit to come and meet us and see what we offer our children. However all applications for places must be made via the Local Authority Admissions Department. Their Parent Portal can be reached here or via the link below.
We do look forward to meeting you and hope you become as passionate about our school as we all are.
Newker Nursery School
Here at Newker we are extremely fortunate to have our own on site Nursery. At present the Nursery is able to offer places to children the term after their 3rd birthday. Most children come to Nursery for 15 hours each week which is funded by the Government. Places are either for 5 morning or 5 afternoon sessions each week.
However, this year we are trialling offering the additional 15 hour child care which the Government is funding for parents who meet certain criteria. In the early stages we have limited the number of 30 hour places we have offered and will be reviewing this regularly. Currently there are no further 30 hour places available.
We admit children to Nursery at two points in the year. Children who turn 3 in the autumn term may be admitted in January. Children who turn 3 in the spring and summer terms will be admitted to Nursery the following September.
Parents interested in applying for a place for their child are warmly invited to make an appointment to come and have a look around and meet our staff.
All applications for places must be made directly through school and forms may be obtained from our Receptionist Mrs Rutter.
